CPA yearbook wins Gold Crown award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association

The CPA yearbook staff has been awarded the highest international award in the student journalism industry: a Gold Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
This first-ever honor for the staff comes after their 2016-17 yearbook won Best Overall Yearbook in Tennessee at the Tennessee Scholastic Press Association conference this month. Crown Awards (silver and gold) honor top student publications for overall excellence of the entire publication in a head-to-head comparison. During consideration, publications are judged on their excellence as shown by their design, photography, concept, coverage, and writing.

Thousands of international yearbooks from the middle school to the college level are submitted each year, and only 25 Gold Crowns are given. This is a distinct honor for CPA student journalists led by faculty member Heather Nagel.

"This is a tremendous honor for the CPA Lion's Roar staff and Heather Nagel. It speaks volumes to the quality of their output, as well as the talent of the students on staff," explains Herff Jones representative Mary Harris.
