CPA second grade students had the opportunity to explore both science and art last week at a hands-on workshop with The Clay Lady.
Students experienced the art of making clay plates and bowls as they discussed the raw materials used to create clay products, connecting their work with the conclusion of their Science unit on soil.
Student creations were left with The Clay Lady to fire in her kiln to be returned to students in the coming weeks, allowing them to observe first-hand the changes in states of matter following exposure to heat. Students also watched other professional artists at work, observing the creative, hands-on aspect of being a potter.
