CPA high school theater presents the classic, 1939 American comedy The Man Who Came to Dinner on Thursday, November 3, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, November 5, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
By Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, the play features outrageous members of Hollywood, surprise guests, hi-jinks, and laughs that keep coming. It reflects with both farcical humor and clarity much about the fame, pride, integrity, selfishness, perseverance, and frienship that make up life. Though filled with quirky characters who crowd the scenes like a "who's who" of 1930's American history and pop culture, it is as relevant today as when it opened up on Broadway in 1939.
"As the pace of this farce picks up and the laughter rolls, the play holds a mirror to today’s human condition. It becomes clear that just as in real life, there’s equity on both sides of the “good guy-bad guy” balance sheet. And the laughter becomes a virtual highlighter of the story’s truth - people aren’t neat and pretty, all tied up with a bow," remarks CPA Artistic Director Paula Flautt.
