Wade named Swimmer of the Year

After a record-breaking season in the pool, CPA junior Tatum Wade has been named the 2015 Middle Tennessee High School Swimming Association Swimmer of the Year and the Tennessee Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association Female Swimmer of the Year. Tatum won two events at the 2015 TISCA Tennessee High School Swimming and Diving Championships in Knoxville on February 13-14, 2015, starting with a thrilling victory in the 200 free, 3.5 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor. Her 1:45.76 result is a personal best by 1.5 seconds. In the 500 free, Tatum won by nearly 8 seconds with a strong 4:44.00 to lower her personal best by three seconds.
"Tatum is one of the most talented individuals I have had the privilege of coaching," CPA Swimming Coach Bruce Francis stated, "She is humble, respectful, graceful, focused, and extremely loving and encouraging to those around her. She uses her God-given gifts to the utmost degree and always is a light for Christ in whatever the arena. Tatum is a true blessing and an incredible young lady. She is a dedicated, year-round swimmer, practicing two hours before school and two hours after, and maintains straight A's in her classes."

Tatum will participate in numerous national swim meets with the Nashville Aquatics Club. She has been invited to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs several times and hopes to be on the USA Olympic team next summer in Rio. She is one of the top 20 swimmers in the world in her age division. Tatum is currently ranked 1st in her class in Tennessee and 18th nationally by collegeswimming.com, the national swimming ranking system.
