Middle school robotics wins first place at FIRST LEGO League State Meet
The CPA middle school robotics team won first place for Robot Strategy and Innovation at the FIRST Lego League State Championship held at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN.
The competition was themed Into Orbit and focused on space exploration. The team, consisting of ten middle school students, competed against 48 other Tennessee teams and placed first in the category of Robot Strategy and Innovation.
For this “Into Orbit” season, students competed by creatively solving a solution for astronauts, and they designed, mechanized, and programmed an autonomous robot with innovative features to complete a series space-themed mechanical missions. For building a robot that recognizes its own attachments by color, streamlined and effective coding, and for adding extra style by programming songs to play at random, the students earned first place for Robot Strategy and Innovation. This is the team’s second award this season after receiving top marks and being named 2nd place Champions at the local tournament held at Ensworth.
