ON THE BLOG: 10 times teaching preschool changed me

By CPA Preschool 3's teacher Erin Kitchin

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when they are old they will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6. A little over 10 years ago, I chose to take a new path and become an early childhood education teacher. My two children were preschoolers at the time and I truly loved watching their daily growth and the fun stages of life we were in.
My passion was centered on raising my children all for God’s glory. The Bible makes it perfectly clear that raising children to know and love the Lord becomes our most important mission in life as parents and teachers. As parents, I hope you will agree that raising children is quite a calling, but a precious privilege.

For me, teaching preschool is one of the most heartwarming and rewarding positions I could have ever chosen. I will admit teaching a whole classroom of little learners is certainly not for the faint of heart.  But I could name a million reasons why and how being a preschool teacher has changed me over the past ten years. It all started with a personal interest and passion for working each day with young children and seeing them learn and achieve their goals. You definitely appreciate what you do each day when you look at the amazing progress in your students over the course of 3 months, 6 months, and a whole school year. Many days, my time is spent engaging, teaching, talking and influencing little hearts and minds…but at the end of my day, I look back and recount all I have received from them. And friends, it is more, so much more. Let me give you my top 10…
