Second grade book character day

CPA lower school students dressed as their favorite book character this week to celebrate favorite books, a love of reading, and the imagination it takes to learn about the world through a good story.
Second graders selected a book with a favorite character, and dressed up to embody their characters on Wednesday. Students filed in the Chapel for the book character parade, lining up at the front for parents to see. Each student gave brief comments on his or her character and what about the character intrigues them.

LS Librarian Brenda Ferrell spoke to parents on the school's reading and literary skills programs, encouraging parents to read every day with their children. Ferrell emphasized student-led reading as a large part of the curriculum.

Second grade teacher Jeanne Ellen Graham commented: "We are so proud of our students and their reading accomplishments. We want them to love books, and we want them to read the Bible every day. A healthy relationship with reading is critical to development in these early years. Books are fun and should be celebrated!"
