First grade serves with Habitat for Humanity

First grade students served at a Habitat for Humanity build site this week, helping build a house for their partner family.
Students in the first grade at CPA have participated in this annual service project for several years, helping different families each year. This year, they held a all-school penny drive throughout the spring semester to raise funds for the new home. Students were excited to get to visit the construction site, learn about Habitat's building process, and help out on the site!

"We love getting the kids involved in the build site because it allows them to see the tangible results of their fundraising and volunteering efforts. They write scripture on the walls of the house, and include personal prayers and well wishes for the new homeowners. It's a highlight for us every year," says first grade teacher Susan Herron.
