Dear CPA Family,
We are so excited about our 2024-25 Season of JOY!
As I looked and pondered over all the titles and events we have planned this year, a common theme of JOY seemed to emerge. Whether it’s a story of a young girl standing up for what’s right, a musical about giving of one’s time and talent to honor an old retired army general, a non-stop laugh-fest of a ridiculous comedy, a dance showcase inspired by the hope of the Gospel, artwork that tells a story of redemption, music that evokes sheer delight or a documentary film that tugs at our heartstrings, all of these events curate JOY across our campus throughout the year. And couldn’t we all use a little more of that?
I was reminded recently as I watched CPA students provide onstage support to performers with disabilities in Backlight Production’s “School of Rock: The Musical” on our campus, just what a JOY vehicle the arts can be. The amount of pure JOY emanating from that stage was contagious. Those performers with intellectual and developmental disabilities infected us all with their unbridled JOY.
My prayer is that God will infect all of us with His JOY this season and that He will use the arts to do it. So come on out to the SDC! We can’t wait to infect you!
“May the God of hope fill you with all JOY and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” - Romans 15:13
Joyfully Yours,
Jake Speck
