Defend the Den

As a part of the Academy’s ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, we utilize the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) at CPA.

The OBPP is a proven, research-based program that we believe reinforces our efforts to provide a safe, healthy learning environment. The program’s goals are to reduce bullying problems, to prevent new bullying problems, and to strengthen relationships among students. The OBPP is for all students, not just those who are being bullied or who are bullying others.

All students should be able to enjoy a safe school experience, and CPA is committed to taking proactive steps that help us continue to foster such an environment. In this light, the OBPP at CPA carries the tagline “Defend the Den”—a name that rightly evokes the image of a pride of Lions protecting its own from harm.

As with many other aspects of education, parents and families play a key role in bullying prevention. Through the OBPP—which is coordinated by a faculty committee under the leadership of our administration your child will be asked to tell an adult at school and at home if he or she is bullied or sees bullying happening. It will be very important that you take any bullying seriously and tell a member of our faculty/staff, who have participated in OBPP training.
