TICE Trek to Glacier National Park

The Center for Visual Media and Production's (TICE) Television & Cinema and Digital Media Publishing students recently had the opportunity to produce three short feature films and one music video focusing on conservation while partnering with the Glacier National Park Conservancy in Montana. This trip is part of TICE's robust travel study program, a "TICE Trek", giving upper school students hands-on learning experiences all over the globe!

These media directors visited Glacier's Native Plant Nursery, where they interviewed Vegetation Biologist Dawn LaFleur about the park’s Native Plant Restoration project with Whitebark Pine and the Clark’s Nutcracker. Students also met with Glacier Park Rangers Debby Smith and Brian Mckeon to promote their Half the Park Happens After Dark astronomy program and the Preventing Catastrophic Mussel Infestation program on Lake McDonald.

Also, the songwriters of Natalie Grant’s 2008 Christian Gospel hit “In Better Hands” reached out to our Media Studio and asked our students to produce a cover of their beautiful song while in Montana. Student directors used their God-given passion, creativity, and talent to showcase God’s beauty on this earth. These projects will be submitted to the United Nations World Wildlife Day Film Festival later this year to showcase the conservation work of this amazing nonprofit organization.
