Students in Portfolio Management Visit AllianceBernstein

Recently, Mr. Maggard’s Portfolio Management Class visited the Nashville offices of global asset management firm, AllianceBernstein. Students spoke with the executive investment team: VP of Private Wealth Management Laurie Atkins, Managing Director and Head of Private Wealth Adam Sansiveri, and Global Values Portfolio Manager Justin Moreau.

The roundtable included discussion of portfolio management fundamentals, ETFs (exchange-traded funds), index funds, and other methods to diversify and build strong investment portfolios. Sansiveri shared, “We really enjoyed spending time with the CPA students. AB prides itself in supporting the community and the bright future of the talent in Nashville is just one of the many reasons we relocated our global headquarters here.”

This on-site learning experience offers direct value to the class’s project to manage and grow a five-figure investment portfolio for the long-term growth and success of The Institute of Cultural Engagement (TICE) here at the Academy. With this partnership, students are gaining first-class exposure to market research and sector performance, as well as learning about several key indicators that AB utilizes to create multi-million dollar portfolios.

“Having our students explore the offices and hear from industry leaders at AB is a priceless opportunity to show them finance up close, helping them see the tangible connections between economics and investment. Our goal is to build confidence and wisdom for students as they learn how to steward resources and establish understanding of our free-market systems,” says Maggard.

Students left inspired, motivated, and grateful for the opportunity to learn from some of the world-class professionals at AllianceBernstein. Read more about TICE at cpalions.org/tice
