Spring post-season in full swing

As the 2021-22 school year winding down with exams and commencement exercises, spring sports are in full swing with multiple teams participating this week in the state tournament. Baseball, boys’ soccer, and softball will all host state quarterfinal games on campus this week for an opportunity to advance to the final four at the TSSAA Spring Fling next week in Murfreesboro.  This is the first year for CPA athletics to compete in the Division II-AA classification.

BASEBALL - After winning the DII-AA middle region championship, baseball hosts McCallie in a best of 3 state quarterfinal series:

  • Game 1: WED, May 18 6:30
  • Game 2: THR, May 19 4:00
  • Game 3: THR, May 19 6:30 (if necessary)

SOCCER - Also winning the DII-AA middle region championship, boys’ soccer hosts McCallie Saturday at 6:00 in a state quarterfinal match

SOFTBALL - Coming off its best season in program history, the DII-AA middle region runners-up will host Girls Preparatory School (GPS) in a best of 3 state quarterfinal series:

  • Game 1: THR, May 19 2:00
  • Game 2: THR, May 19 4:00
  • Game 3: FRI, May 20 1:00 (if necessary)

TRACK & FIELD - After a successful region meet where the Lions captured seven individual region championships and multiple school records were broken, 17 members of the track & field team will compete in 16 events in the coming week.  This week, five athletes will travel down Old Hickory to Brentwood Academy and compete in the decathlon (WED 1:00, THR 11:30) and pentathlon (WED 10:00).  Next week, 15 track & field athletics will compete in the state championship meet in Murfreesboro on WED, May 25.
