Lower school students have enjoyed trips around the city of Nashville, enriching their learning for each class unit in Science, English, History, and more!
Second grade students visited the Tennessee State Capitol. They toured the capitol learning about the functions of state and local government and also learned some interesting facts about the building. Students were honored to hear from TN Secretary of State Trey Hargett, as well as former State Representative Bob Clement.
The third grade class took a field trip to TPAC to see "Charlotte's Web." This is a delightful story illustrating friendship and sacrifice. Charlotte the spider saves young Wilbur the pig's life by spinning loving messages about him in her web. She ultimately sacrifices her life to save Wilbur. Students discussed deeper themes of the play and compared it to their own understanding of love, sacrifice, faith, and redemption.
The fifth grade enjoyed a fun fall day at the zoo. This trip tied in with their science class where they have been studying producers, consumers, decomposers and food webs.
To celebrate the completion of the first quarter, the sixth graders spent a well-deserved day of class bonding at Adventure Park. They ran, jumped, climbed, and zip lined through a perfect fall day. The transition to middle school requires focus and flexibility, and CPA MS administration hopes to motivate these hard working students as they move into quarter two.
The seventh grade class has been studying Ancient Greece and Greek mythology. As part of the unit, they toured the Parthenon getting to see the towering Athena. Now our students have a better understanding of why Nashville is called the "Athens of the South." They also competed in some olympic games to honor the first modern olympic games in Athens, Greece. It was a beautiful day to tie in ancient history with the present day.
