CPA Yearbook Wins First Place at Nationals

Congratulations to the Lion’s Roar Yearbook staff for winning First Place in Best of Show at the High School Journalism Convention!

The National Scholastic Press Association holds a convention each year in a different city across the nation, and yearbook staffs attend and compete for the Best of Show honor, which takes into account the yearbook theme, concept, photography, design, and writing. This year, the convention was in St. Louis, Missouri. The CPA students in attendance who received the coveted First Place Trophy were: Avery Parker, Corinne Price, Meghan Milligan, Ella Bobbitt, Lyla Kelley, Gray Seibert, Ford Bunton, Caroline Roe, Sarah Carden, Lulu West.

In addition, CPA yearbook staff members received another honor in that three of our students were asked to present sessions at this conference to students from all across the nation (and some international students, as well!). Meghan Milligan presented a session called "Little Things, Big Results," which was about how to create a cohesive yearbook, verbally and visually. Avery Parker and Corinne Price presented a session called, "Power Up Your Staff," which discussed how to organize the journalism classroom. The student presenters were so popular and impressive that an adviser from Illinois asked them if they would mentor her students!
