CPA names Cum Laude scholars

Dr. Parker Altman, Catherine Sawyer, Amy Calhoun, and Elizabeth Raymond surprised Matthew Brolund, Lucy Funk, Lily Hubbard, Alison Korn, Nelson Lamkin, and Sarah Catherine O'Connell in a Zoom call last week to share the news that they have been named the Class of 2020 Cum Laude Scholars.

As a member of the Cum Laude Society, a national organization that recognizes students for outstanding academic achievement, CPA has the privilege of inducting seniors into our chapter each spring. Aside from the individual honors of being named Valedictorian or Salutatorian, induction into Cum Laude is the highest academic honor a CPA student can earn.

Competition for induction to Cum Laude was especially keen this year because the academic talents of the Class of 2020 are particularly strong. However, these six seniors have particularly distinguished themselves throughout their academic careers and were chosen for induction this year. These students have taken an average of nine Honors and 12 Advanced Placement courses over their time at CPA, have earned an average GPA of 4.509, and scored an average of 35 on the ACT.

Students were informed of their induction on Friday, April 3. The Academy commends them for their academic tenacity, the collegiality they have shown in urging each other on, and their stewardship of the distinct academic gifts that God has granted them.
