CPA is pleased to announce that senior John Spodnik has been named a semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Competition. John joins approximately 16,000 students nationwide in earning this honor. His scores on the 2019 PSAT put him in the top 1% of Tennessee's test-takers. John will now apply to be named a National Merit Finalist and National Merit Scholar.

"In his time in the Upper School, John has invested tirelessly in his schoolwork, consistently challenging himself and pushing his own capacity. He has reaped the benefits, not only of his innate gifts, but of his practiced diligence," says Director of College Counseling Catherine Sawyer.

John is the son of Lee and Jeff Spodnik and has attended CPA since third grade. In the upper school, he has taken eight Honors and thirteen Advanced Placement courses. The Academy is proud of John's hard work and commitment to excellence in the academic realm and look forward to seeing where his gifts and talents lead him next.
