CPA Arts is excited to announce its Studio Tenn co-production of The Sound of Music is set to premiere June 22 - July 16 at the Soli Deo Center! This co-production is the first of its kind in Middle Tennessee, and an incredible opportunity for the CPA Arts community to collaborate with a professional theater company in an impactful production of this beloved classic. Founded by CPA alumni Matt Logan and CPA Artistic Director Jake Speck, Studio Tenn remains one of Tennessee’s premiere professional theater companies. The cast and crew features 17 current CPA students, two CPA alumni, and two CPA staff members. CPA's own MS Choir Director (and also CPC Director of Worship & Arts) John-Mark McGaha will be playing the lead Captain von Trapp, joined by Broadway leading lady Laurie Veldheer as Maria. The show will be directed and choreographed by CPA Artistic Coordinator Emily Speck. CPA students will be working alongside an amazing supporting cast of local and New York based professional actors–an incredibly rare and valuable experience for young aspiring artists.
“This truly is a full circle moment, and I am over the moon about this partnership” says Artistic Director Jake Speck. “To give our students the experience of being in the cast and crew of a professional production right here on our campus is such a tremendous opportunity for them, not to mention a wonderful gift to our community”.
