Through the Freshman Bible Intern (FBI) program at CPA, 13 upper school seniors step into ninth-grade classrooms to disciple younger students through relational mentorship. Led by Bible faculty members Jill Brothers and Parker Mote, the program operates on a simple premise: presence is everything. Seniors apply and interview each spring, sharing their personal testimonies as part of a selection process focused on spiritual maturity rather than flawless performance. Borrowing the apostle Paul’s posture of “follow me as I follow Christ,” the interns commit to attending every freshman Bible class during their study hall or senior option periods.
Dedicated schedule blocks like Manhood Mondays and Sisterhood Mondays give interns space to lead discussions on the real-world application of Scripture. Topics range from navigating body image, identity, and healthy friendships and relationships, to handling family struggles and learning practical skills like tying a tie. The impact of the program extends far beyond the classroom walls. By initiating conversations in campus hallways and along sidelines, the seniors help remove the intimidation factor often felt by ninth graders entering the upper school.
The 2026-27 Freshman Bible Interns are seniors Anna Wells Brewer, Addison Crawford, Aubrie Mark, Nealy McClusky, Katherine Mcgargee, Mary McGuigan, Mason Parker, and Lucy Ross, Andrew Bolin, Shepherd Boucek, Nicholas Maddox, Sawyer Regier, and Sylar Smith. Through their presence, vulnerability, and commitment to pointing younger students toward Christ, these seniors are helping create a culture of discipleship that reaches well beyond the freshman Bible classroom.
