CPA’s dedicated school nurses are always present for our students, making health and safety a top priority. A parent’s hope is that their child will never need to visit the school nurse, but there is a level of comfort and security knowing the nurses are there for those “just-in-case” moments. These moments can come in various forms such as scrapes, splinters, and bee stings or passing illnesses such as stomach bugs, strep throat or ear aches. Our nurses also see students with chronic conditions requiring ongoing medical assistance, such as asthma, diabetes and seizure disorders. Our nurses have the important role of interacting with students when they are vulnerable and in need. They often pray with and over students who are in pain or facing anxiety. They work with teachers, counselors and parents to follow issues that may require further outside treatment. Our clinic staff, Chris McDougal and Jelena Holloway, are trained nurses with years of experience, and they are here to keep our campus safe and healthy. The role of a school nurse is a multifaceted one, one full of love and responsibility. We are thankful for their skill and care throughout the school year!
