From the Headmaster:

“...The Lord sets prisoners free.” —Psalm 146:7
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” —Matthew 25:35-36
“We will only take two things into Eternity with us: the Word of God and the souls of men.” —Dawson Trotman, Navigators Ministry Founder
Our old friend Bill Lee spoke at the Men of Valor (prison ministry) fundraising breakfast last week. It brought back a flood of memories in all directions. Bill has been involved with MOV for several years and currently serves on its Advisory Board. A few Decembers ago, I attended a Christmas banquet inside the prison walls. Bill spoke that night, too, and says that a testimony he heard that night changed him forever.
Bill was still in the throes of grief. He had lost his wife Carol Ann at the age of 40. She was in a horseback riding accident in July 2000. Bill said that he thought his own personal suffering was probably worse than anyone else’s until he heard the young prisoner who spoke that night.
This young man bounced around in foster care from a very early age. He was sexually abused first at the age of five, then again at age six and again at age seven. At some point, he was taken in by a pastor’s family. That went alright for a while until he was sexually abused by the pastor. The anger and rage inside that young man eventually manifested itself in violent crime, and he ended up behind bars.
At some point, though, the young man encountered the Lord Jesus Christ. Though still incarcerated, the prisoner was “set free.” He forgave those who had wronged him when he was young, he forgave the pastor, and he even forgave himself.
Bill said that he came out to the prison wondering what in the world he had in common with that young man...with any of them. (This is initially a common question/fear of those entering prison ministry.) But then he realized this man had a “story”—just as Bill has a story, just as you and I have a story. Bill resolved to “get involved” and has been ever since.
Bill told of visiting Carol Ann’s gravesite. He had ordered a marker—and headstone—and was told that it had been put in place. He said it was surreal standing at the grave, looking at the marker. It had Carol Ann’s name, her date of birth and her date of death.
He thought to himself, “If Carol Ann could speak to me today, what would she say?”
Then, it was if the Lord Himself spoke to Bill: “She would tell you that only two things matter: that she knew Me and there are people who do not know Me.” And Bill Lee has been telling people about knowing Jesus ever since.
How ‘bout you? How ‘bout me? Whom will we encounter today. Who know Him? Who don’t know Him? What will we do about it? Soli Deo Gloria for knowing Him...

Carousel—TONIGHT & SATURDAY, 7 p.m.
Carousel continues Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m., Event Center. Tickets are now only available at the door one hour before curtain.
To read a stellar review of last night's performance, click HERE.
About Carousel: In a quaint seaside village in 19th-century Maine, the fairy tale begins. Thereʼs a
carnival, where an enigmatic carousel barker meets a lovely millworker. Soon, amid clambakes, hornpipe dances, and scavenger hunts, Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan sing “If I Loved You.” But life takes a tragic turn. Then the title, Carousel, becomes a meaningful metaphor for the choices made and consequences faced as their “dreams are tossed and blown.”
TIME Magazine named Rodgers and Hammersteinʼs Carousel the “Best Musical of the 20th Century.” Composer Richard Rodgers called it his favorite of all his musicals, which included The Sound of Music, Oklahoma! and The King and I, and wrote that it “affects me deeply every time I see it performed.”
CPA Fine Arts invites your family to join us for this fairy tale full of truth, hope, hardship, and forgiveness. An inspiring testimony to the power of redemption, Carousel promises to affect you deeply, because, as all great fairy tales, it remains relevant. And it reminds us that when in life we are tossed and blown, “youʼll never walk alone.”

Seventh Grade Class Trip To Tremont
The academy’s seventh grade recently ventured to the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. Students spent three days practicing conservation and performing scientific methods, such as monitoring the pH of a stream, conducting experiments to determine the type of habitat salamanders prefer, and hiking along rigorous trails with breathtaking views. Being away from everyday distractions gave the students a chance to experience their teachers, their classmates and their awesome Creator in a unique way.
